overalls: GAP, thrifted / top: american apparel / shoes: converse
If I’m being completely honest, I have no idea how shorteralls became such a big trend this year. Did it start off sarcastically? What drew the masses to such an unconventional throwback? It really beats me. But either way, I am a big fan of shorteralls and I got my first pair last summer at the thrift store. Well, technically those were overalls that I chopped into shorteralls but either way, they were a lot cheaper than any versions you’d buy in the mall. I found these pre-cropped shorteralls in the thrift store this year and simply rolled up the legs a bit.
I like that shorteralls help you fake a long torso, since mine is pretty disproportionate. While overalls have a bad reputation of being pretty ugly and unflattering, I think that the shorts version is more easily styled (but I still do want a full-length pair of black overalls), and can look super cute, especially with a crop top that shows just a peak of stomach. Not to mention they’re a lot more comfy than denim cutoffs. Baggy clothing that still has structure? Consider me a fan.
